First started Speedway

Josh started racing when aged ten, when he rode a 125cc machinne and won his first race. He became Queensland Under 16 Champion in 2005. Whilst competing in the Australian Under 16 Championship in Adelaide, he blew two engines and was forced out of the meeting. He was one of the early competitiors in the new 350cc division for 14 and 15 year olds, which gave him invaluable experience on several southern Queensland tracks,and at the Newcastle Showground.

His first senior meeting was just after his sixteenth birthday at Pioneer Park, where he won three of his four B Grade races. 2007 saw him become Queensland Under-21 Champion, finishing a ahead of Tigers team-mate Mitchell Davey.
